No casualties reported following 5.1-magnitude quake in Tibet

LHASA - No casualties have been reported following an earthquake in Southwest China's Tibet autonomous region.

A 5.1-magnitude earthquake jolted the county of Gerze in Ali prefecture at 11:44 pm Thursday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.

The epicenter was monitored at 32.88 degrees north latitude and 85.55 degrees east longitude, with a depth of 10 km, the center said.

The epicenter was in Gogmo village, where the local population is scattered. The tremor was felt in the village. The county has launched an emergency response.

Telecommunication, electricity and water supply remain normal in the county.
