Hong Kong to join national mourning for COVID-19 victims

HONG KONG - China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) will join the national mourning on Saturday for those who died in the COVID-19 outbreak, the HKSAR government announced on Friday.

China will hold a national mourning Saturday for martyrs who died in the fight against the COVID-19 outbreak and compatriots who died of the disease, according to the State Council.

The HKSAR government said the national flag and the HKSAR regional flag displayed at the HKSAR government offices on Saturday will be flown at half staff as a token of mourning.

The HKSAR chief executive, together with the president of the Legislative Council, Executive Council members and principal officials of the HKSAR government, will observe three minutes of silence at the Chief Executive's Office at 10 am local time on Saturday.
