LANZHOU -- Lanzhou Customs of Northwest China's Gansu province said the province exported 2,932 tonnes of seeds in the first quarter this year, up 103 percent year-on-year.
The total value of the exported seeds also increased by 55.8 percent to 220 million yuan (about $31 million).
Gansu, one of the largest vegetable and flower seeds cultivation bases in China, has cooperated with seed enterprises from more than 80 countries and regions across the world, including the United States, Germany, the Netherlands and Poland. Seed cultivation is not only a special industry in the inland province but also an important pillar industry to increase local farmers' incomes.
The customs said they have sped up customs clearance for seeds export in order to meet the great demand of foreign countries.
