Chongqing deputy mayor Deng under investigation

Deng Huilin, deputy mayor of Chongqing and head of the municipality's Public Security Bureau, is under investigation for suspicion of serious violations of Party discipline and law, the country's top anti-corruption watchdogs said on Sunday.

Deng, 55, is from Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province. He holds a master's degree in law. He started working in 1984 and joined the Party in 1989, according to his resume, released by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission.

After graduation, between 1984 and 2015, he worked in Hubei. In 2009, he became deputy mayor of Yichang, Hubei. In 2014, be became deputy head of Hubei Provincial Public Security Department.

From June 2015 to July 2017, he worked in the anti-secession guidance and coordination office of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee.

He was transferred to Chongqing in July 2017 as the head of the city's Public Security Bureau. He became deputy mayor of Chongqing the next year.
