KUNMING - Border police in Southwest China's Yunnan province busted a drug trafficking ring, apprehending four suspects and seizing 36 kg of methamphetamine.
Police in Yunnan's Weixin county said they received a tipoff earlier this year that drugs were smuggled into the county from Myanmar and sold in Sichuan province, Chongqing Municipality and other places.
Following up on the leads, police nabbed a suspect in the city of Jinghong on June 12, seizing 18.98 kg of methamphetamine.
On June 14, three other suspects were apprehended with 17.02 kg of methamphetamine in a border township in Jinghong.
All the four suspects have been put under criminal detention and further investigation is underway.
Yunnan is a major front in China's battle against drug crime, as it borders the Golden Triangle infamous for its rampant drug production and trafficking.
