Banning Huawei equipment will bring no any benefits to the UK, but result in substantial economic and political loss. It’s estimated that replacing all Huawei equipment will cost at least 2 billion pounds. What is more, the move will dramatically delay the deployment of 5G networks in the UK, and undermine the bilateral economic relation between China and the UK. In the post-Brexit period, the UK is getting more and more isolated in Europe. As the biggest economic partner outside the EU, China will stay away from the UK gradually, and the UK will pay a heavy price economically in the end.
