New audio textbook series for Chinese class released

BEIJING -- A new audio textbook series for the Chinese class in primary and middle schools in China was released in Beijing Sunday.

The new textbook series, the third of the kind with 100 audio works, was jointly released by the China Media Group, the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the State Language Commission.

The audio works were recorded by more than 100 broadcasters, anchorpersons and sound engineers, according to the China Media Group.

Covering all the articles in the textbooks approved by the MOE for the Chinese class, the new audio series could be accessed by the public through multiple online platforms and aim to promote the use of Putonghua among primary and middle school students nationwide.

The first two audio textbook series, each with 100 works, were launched in May and December 2018, respectively, benefiting 150 million primary and middle school students and more than 9 million teachers in China. The total online visits exceeded 120 million.
