A court in Guangdong province on Friday sentenced to death two individuals, including a Canadian citizen, for manufacturing and transporting illicit drugs.
The verdict for Ye Jianhui, a Canadian national, and Lu Hanchang from China was issued by the Foshan Intermediate People's Court after a hearing on Friday morning.
All the personal property of Ye and Lu was confiscated, according to the verdict.
Ye became the second Canadian in just two days to be sentenced to death for producing drugs in Guangdong province.
On Thursday, the Guangzhou Intermediate People's Court sentenced to death Xu Weihong, also a Canadian, for producing drugs.
Ye and Lu were accused of colluding with other accomplices to produce and transport drugs between May 2015 and January 2016, according to a report from Yangcheng Evening News.
Police seized about 218 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and ecstasy in a warehouse after a special law enforcement operation. Meanwhile, a police investigation uncovered a total of 9.84 grams of illicit drugs in luggage belonging to Lu and his accomplices.
Four other defendants in the case were also given sentences between seven years and life in prison.
