Located on the coast of the Yellow Sea and the banks of the Bohai Sea, NE China's Liaoning province is where the eastern end of China's Great Wall starts, and the only section of the Great Wall on water stands.
It has great ecological beauty, such as the Dalian Golden Stone Beach and Panjin Shuangtaihekou Red Beach wetland. Relying on a long coastline, it has formed a number of seaside, island and hot spring tourist resorts.
Liaoning is the birthplace of China's last feudal dynasty, the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), and is the hometown of the Manchu people, which contributes to its rich folklore.
It has six world cultural heritage sites, including Shenyang Imperial Palace and the Three Tombs of the early Qing Dynasty.
