The Beijing education authority has stressed food safety on campus in the upcoming new semester at all schools, strengthening the management of cold-chain food and especially imported products, China News Service reported.
School canteens must not make or sell cold and uncooked foods, cake and pastries containing fresh cream, kidney beans or fresh daylilies, according to the official Sina Weibo account of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission.
The commission is currently working with the municipal market supervision bureau to carry out a month-long investigation into food safety on campuses, covering canteens in all schools and kindergartens, supermarkets and convenient stores surrounding schools and catering providers for schools in the city.
Purchasing cold-chain foods produced without relevant production permits, business licenses and qualification certificates is also prohibited.
