Expert: 'Clean plate' a smart initiative

Food security has always been an important strategic objective of China. The country should be prepared for challenges even though it faces no immediate problems. Preventing and reducing food waste would generate economic and environmental gains, which will eventually benefit the entire Chinese society, said Matteo Marchisio, country director and representative for China, International Fund for Agricultural Development.
