URUMQI -- The Alataw Pass, a major land port in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, has witnessed booming cross-border e-commerce as it has handled more than 30 million outbound parcels this year.

The parcels, mainly packed with toys, furniture, clothing and daily necessities, are worth nearly 100 million US dollars, according to the customs of the pass.

The cross-border e-commerce parcels have been sent to countries like Belgium and Germany, which are later delivered via local post offices or express services such as DHL and UPS.

With its geographical advantage and the China-Europe cargo trains passing through, the Alataw Pass has seen booming cross-border e-commerce since the business was launched in January.

Parcels on major online shopping platforms including Alibaba and Amazon have been shipped via the port, with 506,000 cross-border e-commerce companies in China involved, according to the port customs.
