18 provincial-level officials punished for misconduct in China

BEIJING - A total of 390,000 people, including 18 officials at the provincial level or ministerial level, were punished by China's disciplinary and supervisory authorities in the first nine months of 2020.

They were found to have breached discipline or were involved in other misconduct, said the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission.

Disciplinary inspection commissions and supervision agencies nationwide received more than 2.3 million reports and letters complaining of such violations between January and September.

Those punished also included 1,989 officials at prefecture or equivalent levels.
