China Eastern Airlines signed agreements with CFM and Honeywell, respectively, worth more than $1.1 billion, accounting for 83 percent of the carrier's total contracts expected to be placed during the 3rd China International Import Expo, said the Shanghai-based airlines on Thursday.

The agreement with CFM, one of the world's leading suppliers of jet engines for single-aisle aircraft, includes Rate per Flight Hour (RPFH) maintenance agreement for LEAP-1A engines and six backup engines. The deal with Honeywell entails the purchase of 131-9A APUs (auxiliary power units).

China Eastern is projected to sign 23 contracts with companies from 11 countries and regions during this year's CIIE, outnumbering 14 of last year. The deals include products and services of aviation engines, in-flight food and beverage, aviation equipment, fuel, fresh food, specialty vehicles and maintenance services.

Being the world's largest consumer market, China shows the promising outlook for aviation market players. China Eastern is resolved to tap into opportunities presented by China's consumption upgrade with its procurement deals.
