More than one million developers have used the cloud-based development platform of WeChat, a messaging, social media and mobile payment app owned by Chinese company Tencent, to build up their own mini-programs, official accounts and mobile applications, said Liu Ying, vice-president of Tencent Cloud, the cloud computing unit of Chinese tech giant Tencent.
The number of registered users at the cloud-based development platform launched by Tencent Cloud and WeChat has recently reached 560,000. Liu noted with the help of the platform, the human cost could be reduced by 50 percent and the usage cost of cloud resources can be reduced by 30 percent, based on data accumulated over the past year.
The cloud development platform integrates the WeChat ecosystem and various capacities of Tencent Cloud, becoming a key point in promoting the company's consumer-to-business or C2B strategy, Liu added.
In addition, Tencent Cloud rolled out a low-code development platform which provides development environments that allow businesses to develop software quickly with minimal coding, as part of a broad drive to further lower the threshold for application development.
