WASHINGTON - The US House of Representatives approved a defense policy bill on Tuesday with a veto-proof majority.
The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) was passed with a 335-78 vote, exceeding the two-thirds majority needed to override a veto, which President Donald Trump has threatened.
It now went to the US Senate, where it is likely also to be approved, before reaching Trump's desk.
The president has said he wants the bill to terminate Section 230, a piece of Internet legislation that provides legal protection for tech companies over content from third parties and users, among other things.
The NDAA, worth some 740 billion US dollars, would authorize appropriations for fiscal year 2021 and setting forth policies for the Pentagon's programs and activities.
The bill has become law 59 years in a row.
