Expert: Technological changes vital to ensure pandemic prevention and control

Technological changes are exerting an unprecedented and comprehensive impact on the evolution of human civilization and the development of a global governance system, said Huang Ru, vice-president of Peking University, at the Beijing Forum held at Peking University.

She added that the role and impact of science and technology are even more indispensable when faced with common problems of mankind, including global challenges in terms of infectious diseases and public health.

"Taking the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic in the world as an example, the virus has been contained in China; science and technology played a pivotal role to ensure pandemic prevention and control," Huang said.
