Police in Dongguan, Guangdong province, dropped charges against a car-hailing driver who broke traffic rules to get a sick infant quickly to a nearby hospital.
The driver, surnamed Ai, picked up several passengers in Dongguan on Dec 8, including an infant less a year old. When the infant began vomiting and lost consciousness the parents wanted Ai to change destination and take them to a nearby hospital. He ran three red traffic lights and got to the hospital in seven minutes. The baby's life was saved.
Local traffic police announced on Monday afternoon that an investigation was conducted, and charges against Ai for violating traffic rules would be canceled.
