The Nam Lik 1-2 Hydropower Project, owned by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) subsidiary China International Water and Electric Corporation (CWE), was awarded the National Labor Medal by Laos' Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) on the morning of February 9th, 2021.
Signed by Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the award recognizes the power plant's remarkable contribution to the country's social and economic development since it began operations a decade ago.

CWE began operating in Laos 25 years ago. The Nam Lik 1-2 Hydropower Project, CWE's first build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) project overseas and the first hydropower project in Laos funded by a Chinese company, is of tremendous significance to both China and Laos.
With total installed capacity of 100MW, the Nam Lik 1-2 Hydropower Project began construction in September, 2007, and was commissioned on August 1st, 2010. It has operated safely and stably for one decade and has generated 5 billion kWh of electricity as of August 1, 2020, ensuring a reliable power supply for the grid in Laos' capital Vientiane and the country's central region.
