After being closed for more than a year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the memorial hall of the former residence of Soong Ching Ling, the honorary chairwoman of the People's Republic of China in the 20th century, was reopened to the public on Tuesday.

Located at No. 1843 Middle Huaihai Road in Shanghai's Xuhui district, the three-story residence built in 1920 was one of the main places where Soong worked and lived from 1949 to 1963. It has been open to visitors since 1988.

Soong was the wife of Chinese revolutionary leader Sun Yat-sen, who is often referred to as one of the "Fathers of Modern China".

Soong devoted her life to various aspects of China's development, including health care, culture, and education for women and children. She died in 1981 at the age of 88.
