Twelve vessels have been sent to clean up oil spilled into the Yellow Sea after a vessel struck a tanker near the port city of Qingdao, Shandong province, on Tuesday. The incident was reported on Thursday by the Shandong Maritime Safety Administration on its WeChat account.

The Panamanian bulk carrier Sea Justice struck the Liberian oil tanker A Symphony when the latter was at anchor about 40 nautical miles from Qingdao.

"About 400 tons of oil spilled from the ship into the sea, and the emergency disposal work is being carried out in an orderly manner," the administration said. "The collision has had no impact on ships entering or leaving Qingdao port."
