My China Story, an international short video competition, was launched in Beijing on Tuesday, in hope of getting global content producers and internet influencers to share stories about China.
Organized by China's Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, the annual event is in its third year. This year it has a special focus on Lingnan culture and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, suggesting stories related to that region or other bay areas around the world.
It also welcomes short video content on Chinese food, people, architecture or companies around the world, as well as foreigners who are visiting or living in China. Suggested topics include discovering China around the world, expats' experiences, town and country tours and a bite of Chinese food in other countries.
To encourage more young people to make short videos and submit proposals, the event will provide funding of 269,000 yuan. The best productions will be promoted on streamers at home and abroad, such as Tik Tok, Bilibili and also other platforms like Associated Press, Deutsche Presse and the Australian Associated Press.
First launched in 2018, the short-video competition has received a lot of high-quality productions and has become a good vehicle through which people can portray Chinese culture, explore the country's development and promote cultural exchanges with others.
The collection channel for videos will be open until June 30. For more information people can visit the event's website mychinastory.com.
