The government of the Tibet autonomous region has donated a new batch of medical supplies to Nepal to help the country in its battle against COVID-19.

A handover ceremony was held at the Nepal consulate in Lhasa on Thursday that was attended by officials from Nepal and the region.

The donation included 800 oxygen cylinders, five ventilators, 200 intensive-care beds, 10 oxygen concentrators, and 15,000 sets of antigen diagnostic reagents.

Jiang Jie, an official of Tibet, said the region has donated several batches of medical supplies and other life-saving materials to Nepal since 2020, as the coronavirus has ravaged the globe, and it has tried its best to support the country in its battle against the pandemic.

"We will coordinate relevant departments to provide further assistance to Nepal as soon as possible, and I hope the supplies we donated will provide some help to the Nepalese people and to save more lives there," Jiang said.

Navaraj Dhakal, the Nepalese consul, said Nepal and China share age-old cordial and harmonious relations, and they have supported each other in times of need.

"I would like to heartily thank the government of the Tibet autonomous region for their support and efforts to send these medical supplies to Nepal in such a short period of time," Navaraj Dhakal said.
