Complaints against China's insurance sector rise in Q1

BEIJING -- Consumer complaints against China's insurance companies rose in the first quarter of 2021, with 37,892 cases received by the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission and its local bureaus.
The volume registered an increase of 129.73 percent from the same period a year earlier.
The number of motor vehicle insurance-related complaints totaled 8,561 in the first three months, accounting for 55.09 percent of the total complaints involving property insurance companies.
Of all consumer complaints against life insurers, the number of cases related to life insurance stood at 9,184, accounting for 41.09 percent of the total. That of disease insurance came in at 4,600, accounting for 20.58 percent.
