After graduation from high school, Zhou spent four years as a farmer before moving to the city to make a living. He served as a porter, a plumber and an electrician in Chongqing, and as a sailor in Guangzhou. He signed up for a one-year correspondence course in creative writing in Chongqing and completed it at age 24. [Provided to China Daily]

"Anyone can write songs," he said, adding that the big contrast between his occupation and his talent is welcomed by pop music, which is also noted for its diversity.

"Art comes from life. It is Zhou's truck driver's experience that gives him unique perspectives," Liu said. "Simple and hardworking as he is, he has achieved really solid work."

Liu is working on a fifth song in collaboration with Zhou.
