The China-Europe Seminar on Human Rights will take place concurrently in Chongqing and Rome, Italy, on Tuesday afternoon.

Established by the China Society for Human Rights Studies in 2015, the China-Europe Seminar on Human Rights serves as a mechanism platform for communication and cooperation in human rights between experts from China and Europe.

Sponsored by the CSHRS and the Italian magazine Cina in Italia, about 150 scholars from China and Europe will join the discussion online and offline regarding the protection of human rights amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The inaugural event was held at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasburg, France, and focused on the protection of children. The editions that followed took place in Chongqing, Amsterdam, Brussels and Vienna from 2016 to 2019, covering the rights of ethnic minorities and disabled people and diversity of civilizations and human rights protection. They also compared human rights values in East and West.

The theme this year is "COVID-19 and the Guarantee of the Right to Life and Health."
