British Health Secretary Javid tests positive for COVID-19

British Health Secretary Sajid Javid has tested positive for COVID-19, and is self-isolating at home with his family while waiting for the result of a PCR test.
Javid, who became health secretary in June, revealed on Twitter that he tested positive after a lateral flow test on Friday night, with "very mild" symptoms, and was thankful that he has had both his jabs of the COVID vaccine.
He urged people who have not yet been vaccinated to come forward for their jabs.
The news came as the United Kingdom registered more than 50,000 daily cases, for the first time since mid-January.
Most of England's pandemic restrictions are due to be lifted on Monday, despite experts warning that this unlocking could be a threat to global health.
