Exhibition in Hong Kong marks pioneers of modern art
When looking at canvases by great artists such as Paul Cezanne, Camille Pissarro and Pablo Picasso, people are caught by the vibrancy of the colors and dynamics of the composition. What is not so easily noticed is those masters' experimental, pioneering spirit.
Pioneers, an exhibition Lévy Gorvy is staging at its Hong Kong space from Aug 26 to Sept 30, celebrates the innovative achievements of these modern luminaries.
On show are The Church of St. James in which Pissarro painted the hustle and bustle of city life, The Frog Pond by Maurice de Vlaminck, of which a creative use of colors and forms accentuates the pleasure of a couple enjoying refreshments at a waterside cafe, and The Kiss, an example of Joan Miro showing the inner changes of people's minds.
