The domestic tourism market has seen a stable recovery over the three-day Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, though sporadic COVID-19 outbreaks have brought side effects to the market, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism said.

According to latest figure by the ministry on Tuesday night, about 88.2 million trips were made over the three-day holiday, roughly 87.2 percent of the total number back in 2019 when the COVID-19 epidemic had yet to impact the market.

Also, revenue of about 37.1 billion yuan ($5.7 billion) was created over the break, which is about 78.6 percent of revenue generated in the same period of 2019, the ministry said.

Short-distance tours and theme parks, the Universal Beijing Resort for example, which officially opened to the public Monday, are favored by travelers, according to the ministry.

The ministry has tightened up management of tourism attractions and travel agencies before and during the break, requiring them to check their employees and travelers' health conditions to secure a smoothly running market.
