At the Veterans' Handprint Museum, Sun Jiaxian, 101, recalled his days fighting on the battlefield during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Agression (1931-45).

The centenarians, accompanied by family members and volunteers, also visited the Xiangyangdong Railway Station, the Xiangyang Planning Exhibition Hall, the Xiangyang Library and Tangcheng Film and Television Base. They watched an opera performance and received gifts.

Organized by the Xiangyang Longevity Research Society, the participants ranged in age from 100 to 109. Xiangyang has over 1 million residents aged 60 and above, of which 704 are older than 100. Ten years ago, the number was only 246. Double Ninth Festival falls on the ninth day of the ninth month on the Chinese lunar calendar.
