An international forum featuring invited experts from China, the United States, Belgium, Canada and other countries to discuss innovative ideas about tinkering education was held recently by the China Soong Ching Ling Science and Culture Center for Young People in Beijing.
Tinkering education refers to hands-on, trial and error-based learning process, which encourages persistence, self-sufficiency and creativity. The forum attracted more than 100 representatives from schools and educational institutions in Beijing and its livestream garnered over 100,000 online viewers in the education sector from across the country.
Xu Shanyan, director of the Chinese Association of Natural Science Museums, said tinkering education plays an important role in encouraging students' innovative thinking. He hopes the forum can serve as a platform for education practitioners to better collaborate with each other to integrate tinkering education into the trend of educational development.
Guo Xinbao, director of the China Soong Ching Ling Science and Culture Center for Young People, said the forum aims to strengthen international exchanges on tinkering education and help tinkering education to develop in a sustainable way.
