US bans travel from 8 African countries over variant

The US is restricting travel for non-US citizens and permanent residents from eight southern African countries starting on Monday due to the concern over the new Omicron variant of the coronavirus. The global risk of the new variant is "very high", the World Health Organization warned Monday.
