With "People with Disabilities Beijing", a newly set up account on overseas social media platforms, the international community will know more about China's efforts to improve the well-being of persons with disabilities, according to Wu Wenyan, director-general of the Beijing Disabled Persons' Federation.

Wu's remarks came after "People with Disabilities Beijing", jointly operated by Beijing Disabled Persons' Federation and the China Daily Website, was officially launched in Beijing on Thursday.

On both Facebook and Twitter, two of the most popular social media networks worldwide, global audiences can now catch up with the latest developments on people with disabilities in China, in particular in Beijing.

"People with Disabilities Beijing" will further get the voices and stories of persons with disabilities in Beijing heard across the world, and enhance mutual understanding and common development with global disability organizations, said Wang Hao, deputy editor-in-chief of China Daily.

"People with Disabilities Beijing" will also focus on the upcoming Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games. It will publish news and trivia on the games, introduce winter sports events to readers and showcase Chinese athletes to the world.

The Beijing Disabled Persons' Federation is an organization established in Beijing in December 1988, committed to the protection of rights and interests of persons with disabilities in the city.
