Vocational school graduates should enjoy equal opportunities in enrollment for higher education, employment and career development as other graduates at the same level, a draft revision of a law said on Monday.
The draft revision to the Vocational Education Law was presented to the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress for a second reading on Monday. A draft generally becomes law after being reviewed by the top legislature three times.
Higher vocational colleges and universities should set aside enrollment quotas or hold independent enrollment tests for graduates from secondary vocational schools, the draft revision said.
Governments at all levels should also create an equal employment environment for vocational school graduates.
When hiring vocational school graduates, employers should not set up requirements that hinder fair competition, the draft said. While hiring vocational workers, government organizations, institutions and State-owned enterprises should make the candidates' vocational skills an important evaluation criterion.
