Promote resources exploitation, boost economic development

MCC Resources Development Company (Pvt.) Limited (MRDL) is a local enterprise funded by the Metallurgical Corporation of China (MCC) but registered and established in Quetta, Balochistan. Being a modern enterprise integrating investment, development, construction, production, and operation, it mainly focuses on the development of non-ferrous metal mineral resources. Its main project of Saindak Copper-Gold Mine is the first large-scale modern non-ferrous mine in Pakistan, and it is also the only non-ferrous metal mine in the country that comprises of mining, concentrating, and smelting.

MRDL is a unit of China Minmetals, which is a world-class metal mineral development group, ranking 65th among the Top 500 global companies in 2021.

MRDL, which has a 20-year history in Pakistan,adheres to the strategic positioning of “top runner of Pakistan non-ferrous mining industry and main force of the China-Pakistan economic (industrial) cooperation” with the mission of maximizing resource utilization and corporate social responsibility. Targeting the promotion of the non-ferrous metal industry and the building of integrated relationship of common destiny and harmonious co-existence with the locals, MRDL has been highly recognized by the government and society. While promoting the comprehensive progress of Pakistan's non-ferrous metals industry, MRDL also focuses on building a Chinese-Pakistan technical team with rich experience in non-ferrous resources development and has made great contributions and achieved fruitful results in local employment, CSR, andborder areas stability. In the past two decades, MRDL has achieved the sales revenue of about $2.4 billion in copper blister, paid $468 million in taxes, surcharges, profits to Pakistani governments, locally procured goods for production and daily necessities worth about $1.1 billion, and been awarded as one of the Top 50 Pakistani enterprises earning foreign currencies, which has greatly promoted the development of local trades and logistics industries. Meanwhile, MRDL has also actively boosted the development of the national industry in Pakistan by providing jobs to more than 1,700 and cultivating more than 3,000 talented technicians or management staff. In each year of the past two decade, MRDL spent 5% of its operating revenue on social activities for public good such as local livelihood improvement, disaster assistance, etc., and the accumulated amount has come to more than $20 million. On a yearly basis, MRDL spends more than $1 million to aid the education system, medical services, power and water supply for the local villagers, strongly supporting the development of local science, education, culture, and health undertakings, and contributing to the stability and prosperity of the border regions. MRDL won the "Best Social Welfare Enterprise" for consecutive years.In 2019, it received the "Corporate Social Welfare Protection Contribution Award" presented by the Special Advisor to the Prime Minister.In June of 2021, it received the “Top 100 Exporter Recognition Award 2020”, which was personally presented by Pakistan’s President Arif Alvi. In October 2021, MRDL won the honorary title of the First Session of the "Best Enterprise for Employees’ Skills Development" in Pakistan.

Looking into the future, with China Minmetals as its strong backup and the traditional advantages, unique experience, and the trained teams working at the Gobi Desert for decades as well as the support from Chinese and Pakistani governments, MRDL is willing to make joint efforts with local society to promote the mining industry, especially the non-ferrous mining, and devoting itself to the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor for the realization of the “New Pakistan”vision, and opening of the bright new chapter for the resources exploration and economy development in Balochistan as well as the further development of the China-Pakistan friendship.
