Chongqing chimp acts like a human

An entertaining video showing a chimpanzee in Chongqing cutting its nails and washing clothes with soap and a brush has gone viral online.

The 20-year-old male chimp, Yu Hui, lives in Chongqing Locajoy Theme Park in the city's Yongchuan district.

"Yu Hui would get excited and watch attentively each time I cut his nails," said Xu Zhengkun, a keeper. "So during the Chinese Lunar New Year we came up with a test to find out whether he could do the task as well as a human."

Xu said this is not the first time Yu has provided a surprise. Last year, he learned to wash clothes, which won him a lot of fans, both online and offline.

The chimpanzee and another great ape, the bonobo, are humans' closet DNA relatives, with the highest intelligence in the animal world.
