BEIJING -- A total of 1.06 billion passenger trips were made in China during the 40-day Spring Festival travel rush that ended Friday, official data showed Saturday.

The figure marked a 21.8-percent increase from the 2021 level, said the Ministry of Transport.

Of the total, air passenger trips accounted for 39.82 million while railway passenger trips came in at 253 million, according to the ministry.
