Abinbin has recently become a household name in Jingdong county of Yunnan province. The car mechanic makes cool works of art from junk parts. The pieces are loved by locals and visitors alike.

Common scraps, including iron sheets and nuts, can quickly become exquisite objects — animals, toy cars, motorcycles, tricycles — formed and welded together.

He once surprised onlookers when he found waste nuts and iron wires to quickly make a lively and lovely mechanical mouse on the spot in his Huayao automobile repair shop.

"Making ornament and toys from waste automobile parts has become a hobby of mine in the my spare time," said Abinbin.

With skillful hands Abinbin turns scraps into lifelike animals and various other objects. The artworks reflects an industrial style that demonstrates a spirit of craftsmanship, according to residents.

Abinbin said he hopes to help establish a sense of economy and create a saving atmosphere by turning trash into treasure.

"Saving is glorious and wasting is shameful," he said.
