Foxconn Technology Group, the world's largest contract electronics manufacturer and a key supplier of Apple Inc, said its plants in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, have been suspended from Monday due to the resurgence of COVID-19 cases in the city.
Foxconn said in a statement that the date of factory resumption is to be advised by the local government. "Due to our diversified production sites in China, we have adjusted the production line to minimize the potential impact," the company said.
Meanwhile, it has required all employees in the Shenzhen plants to receive nucleic acid tests and adopted other prevention and control measures to ensure the health and safety of the employees.
Foxconn, formally known as Hon Hai Technology Group, has more than 40 production bases on the Chinese mainland.
The southern Chinese metropolis of Shenzhen suspended bus and metro services from Monday to Sunday, after the latest COVID-19 outbreak.
