Overseas holdings in Chinese bonds edge down

Overseas institutions held 3.64 trillion yuan ($538.7 billion) in outstanding bonds in China as of the end of June, accounting for 2.6 percent of the total number of the market, official data showed on Wednesday.
The amount of overseas holdings marks a reduction from 3.74 trillion yuan a month earlier, according to the People's Bank of China, the country's central bank.
As of the end of last month, overseas institutions’ holdings in China's treasury bonds and policy financial bonds stood at 2.3 trillion yuan and 900 billion yuan, taking up 63.4 percent and 23.6 percent of their total holdings, respectively, the PBOC said.
