China and Iran expressed firm support on issues concerning each other's core interests and agreed to achieve more progress in developing their relationship as President Xi Jinping spoke with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi over the phone on Friday.
Xi said that in the face of the complex international situation, China and Iran have boosted solidarity and cooperation, promoted common interests and safeguarded the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries.
Noting that China views the Sino-Iranian relationship from a strategic perspective, Xi said that Beijing is willing to work with Teheran to push for new development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
He called on China and Iran to maintain close communication, actively push forward collaboration in key fields, continue to carry out anti-COVID cooperation and enhance coordination on regional and global affairs.
Xi said that China always supports Middle Eastern countries resolving regional security issues through solidarity and cooperation and supports people in the Middle East independently exploring their own paths of development.
The president also said China appreciates Iran's active support for both the Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative and is willing to jointly implement the initiatives and push for a more just and reasonable international order with Iran.
Raisi said that it is the priority and focus of Iran's diplomacy to steadfastly deepen its comprehensive strategic partnership with China and his country firmly follows the one-China principle.
In a phone conversation with Polish President Andrzej Duda on Friday, Xi said that China views Poland as a priority partner for cooperation in Europe and stands ready to constantly bring the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries to a higher level.
Recalling their in-person meeting earlier this year in Beijing, Xi said that the two countries' governments have worked actively to implement the important consensus reached between the leaders. And positive progress has been achieved in such areas as the export of Polish agricultural products to China, China-Europe rail freight transportation and people-to-people exchanges.
Xi called on the two sides to further align their strategies through governmental cooperation mechanisms, jointly build the Belt and Road, deepen practical cooperation in trade, economy and interconnectivity, and build new growth engines in areas including green development and digital economy.
China hopes that Poland will actively support the development of relations between China and the European Union and maintain the overall situation of China-EU relations, Xi added.
Duda said his country highly values China's international influence and role, and attaches high importance to developing relations with China. Poland welcomes more Chinese companies to invest and conduct cooperation in the Central European country, he said.
Poland will also continue to actively promote the development of EU-China relations, Duda added.
