The Training Workshop on Sustainable Bamboo Development opened in Guyana on Monday, aiming to raise the awareness of stakeholders in the South American nation of bamboo's role in socioeconomic development, particularly for rural vitalization and landscape restoration efforts.
The workshop is co-sponsored and organized by the Chinese embassy in Guyana, the International Bamboo and Rattan Organization and Guyana's Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development.
Initiated by the Guyanese government and promoted by the Chinese embassy, the workshop comes as China and Guyana mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
The training course will last for 15 days, and 30 trainees from Guyana will participate. Chinese bamboo masters will give lectures online, while Ecuadorian craftsmen in Guyana will provide on-site instruction.
