The proliferation of outbreaks of COVID-19 across China and tightened epidemic control measures discouraged travel during the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Approximately 67 million passenger trips were made during the three-day Mid-Autumn Festival, which ended on Monday, a year-on-year decrease of 37.7 percent, the Ministry of Transport said on Monday.
Among them, 48 million passenger trips were made by road, a year-on-year drop of 37.1 percent and an estimated 1.54 million trips were made by water, down 14.9 percent compared with the same period of last year.
The Mid-Autumn Festival is normally an important time for family reunions in China.
