Yang Jiechi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, met on Monday with the outgoing Russian Ambassador to China Andrey Denisov, expressing Beijing's willingness to work with Moscow to enrich high-level strategic cooperation between the two sides.

During the talks, Yang, who is also director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, spoke highly of the envoy's positive contributions to promoting the healthy and stable development of China-Russia relations.

Under the strategic guidance of the two heads of the state, Yang said bilateral ties have always been on the right track.

China and Russia have firmly supported each other on issues concerning each other's core interests, and carried out close coordination on international and multilateral occasions, Yang said.

China is ready to work with Russia to continuously enrich the high-level strategic cooperation, safeguard the common interests of both sides, and promote the international order toward a more just and reasonable direction, he added.

Denisov said that under the personal leadership of the two heads of state, Russia-China relations have achieved fruitful results and bilateral ties have reached the highest level in history and entered a new era.

Noting he had experienced China's brilliant achievements in economic and social development over the past 20 years in person, Denisov said he was willing to continue to contribute to the development of bilateral ties.

Denisov, who has been Russia's chief envoy in Beijing since 2013, will step down from the post this year.
