Li underscored the importance of ensuring sound economic fundamentals in order to sustain the steady growth of China's economy, saying that the nation had taken forceful measures to ease shocks caused by greater-than-expected factors and introduced a policy package for stabilizing the economy.

Reform and opening-up is a fundamental policy pursued by China, and it is an underlying force driving development, he said.

Regarding the Taiwan question, the premier said China will fully implement the underlying policy of the Communist Party of China for resolving the Taiwan question in the new era.

China firmly upholds the one-China policy and the 1992 Consensus, and is firmly opposed to "Taiwan independence" separatist moves and external interference, he said.

Noting that China has maintained an independent foreign policy, Li said the nation will continue to deepen international and regional cooperation, promote people-to-people exchanges and work with other countries to meet global challenges and promote peace, stability, development and prosperity across the world.

Li said that the 20th CPC National Congress, which is proposed to be convened in Beijing on Oct 16, will be held at a critical time as the Party and the Chinese people of all ethnic groups are embarking on a new journey toward the second centenary goal of building a modern socialist country in all respects.

"Let us endeavor to realize the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation," he said.
