Thailand welcomed Chinese tourists, saying they will be treated no different than visitors from other countries.

Tourists to Thailand, including the Chinese, are only required to show proof of at least two COVID-19 vaccinations, and all travelers are recommended by Thai health authority to buy health insurance covering COVID treatment during their stay in Thailand.

The measures were released on Jan 6 after a joint meeting a day earlier of several departments, including Public Health Ministry, Transport Ministry, Tourism and Sports Ministry, as well as executive officials of several state agencies.

Thailand tourism sector has recently estimated that about 300,000 Chinese tourists will come to Thailand in the first quarter of this year.

So far, people are required to wear mask in public places and hand disinfectant is provided nearly everywhere, including restaurants, public transportation vehicles and hotels.
