A campaign against pirated movies has been recently launched across China as a number of films are about to be screened during the upcoming Spring Festival holiday, authorities said on Thursday.

The campaign, which is jointly conducted by the National Copyright Administration, China Film Administration, the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Cultural and Tourism, aims to offer audiences with a sound environment of film watching, keep the movie industry in order and strengthen intellectual property protection.

While sending copyright alerts to major internet service providers and cinemas, the authorities have also increased regular inspections and intensified supervision on these areas, so as to continue the high pressure posture against privacy, according to a statement of the National Copyright Administration.

Private film bars are also being placed under the supervision, it said, adding that the inspection is conducted both online and offline.
