Beijing will resume its restriction on private cars based on the last digit of the license plate on working days beginning on Feb 13 to ease traffic congestion and cut carbon emissions.

As the people's demand to see doctors stabilizes and enterprises resume production, traffic has gradually resumed. In addition, schools will reopen next Monday and traffic congestion is expected to see increasing pressure, according to the traffic group of the municipal leading working committee in COVID-19 control and prevention on Monday.

Beijing will resume restrictions on private vehicles based on the last digit of the license plates from 7 am to 8 pm on workdays within the Fifth Ring Road in Beijing in order to combat the suspected increase in traffic congestion.

Meanwhile, Beijing will increase transport capacity and extend operating hours to meet the rising transportation demand.

Since Dec 22, Beijing has cancelled the restrictions on private cars to satisfy people's demand, especially those who needed to go to hospitals.
