Former Liaoning official indicted for graft

Wang Dawei, former vice-governor of Liaoning province and former party chief and director of the Department of Public Security of Liaoning province, was indicted for graft by the People's Procuratorate of Xiangyang, Hubei province, according to a statement by the Supreme People's Procuratorate issued on Sunday.
Wang took advantage of his positions to accept bribes, manipulate promotions, meddle in some cases and enterprise operations, according to the investigation by the National Commission of Supervision.
The prosecutors informed Wang of his rights and listened to defense counsels' opinions. Wang, 58, was born in Wangkui county, Heilongjiang province.
He served as vice-mayor of Harbin in June 2003 and became deputy Party chief and deputy director of the Department of Public Security of Heilongjiang in July 2009. In March 2013, Wang became Party chief and director of Department of Public Security of Liaoning province and assistant to the governor of Liaoning.
In February 2017, Wang was promoted to vice-governor of Liaoning. The website of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection announced on March 1, 2022 that Wang was under investigation.
