Chen Ruifeng appointed head of National Religious Affairs Administration

Chen Ruifeng has become head of the National Religious Affairs Administration, according to the official website of the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee on Wednesday.

The former head of the administration, Cui Maohu, was recently placed under investigation for serious violations.

Chen has also served as deputy director of the United Front Work Department of CPC Central Committee, the website said.

Before the new posts, Chen was member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Qinghai Provincial Committee and secretary of the CPC Xining Municipal Committee.

Chen, 56, a native of Shandong province, joined the Party in April 1989 and started his career in January 1990.

In 2016, he became the deputy secretary of Wuhan, capital of Hubei province, and in the following year, he was named as deputy mayor of Wuhan.

In July 2020, he was promoted to the Standing Committee of the CPC Qinghai Provincial Committee and became the minister of the provincial publicity department.
